I am helping my children collect the Box Tops 4 Education box tops for their school. Send us your box tops and we will send you some FREE scrapbook embellishments! The kids will turn them in to their school to be redeemed for items the school needs to help the kids get the best education possible. Get free scrapbook embellishments, help a school, and encourage a child! Wow! Doesn't get any better than that!

At my children's elementary school they collect the tabs off of certain brands of food and other household products. Many of us use these products and I am asking if you'd please help us out in collecting these labels. Kimberly Clark, Huggies, Kotex, and Depend all have recently joined this program. We all need this stuff anyway, so go ahead and buy the stuff and save those box tops.

To help our school, go shopping, clip those labels, then send us the box tops. Email me for the address and I will send you items from the list below. You can pick your preference but there is no guarantee that is what you will receive.

It is good to be back and take part of Sunday Scrappin'. This week's scrapbooking goal is to finish the altered advent calendar I started yesterday. Here is what I have so far.

Rub-ons Rubbing You the Wrong Way?

Do you get frustrated on how to store your rub-ons? I sure do... or I used to.

You have to cut apart the sheet so you don't accidentally transfer a rub-on that you don't want to transfer. Then you have to try to get the thing back in the package, but, of course, it won't go into the package easily cause it is all weirdly shaped now from all the cuttings.

This is how I solve the problem.

I cut them apart and staple the backing to the transfer sheet. This way they don't get ruined because they are shifting off the protective backing.

Simple, but effective!

Apply glue dots or foam squares to the center of your flowers and and then coat them with glitter to make sparkling flower centers.

Corner Flowers

Use photo corners to make 3-dimensional flowers. Fold the corner in half and place the point of the corner toward the middle of the flowers. Use a glue dot to adhere the corner to the page/layout. It takes 4-6 corners to complete a whole flower. Add ink to the corners for more dimension. The corners can be placed so they stick up in the middle or placed so they are flat in the middle.

Cut flowers from pattern paper, wrapping paper, tissue paper, napkins, or any other floral printed paper to create your own flowers. Layer them to make a bolder statement.

Strip It

Use strips of paper and pieces of ribbon to make your own beautiful flowers.

Layer It

Simply die cut three large flowers from different colors of paper. Layer the die cuts so that you can see all the colors of petals. Add flower stickers to the center of the flower. Add glitter, brads, or gems to the center of the flower for the last layer.

How To Dye Paper Flowers

Step 1:
Mix re-inker and water in a craft jar. The ratio of water to re-inker will determine the saturation of your chosen color.

Step 2:
Use tweezers to gently and quickly place paper flower into dye bath and pull out. The longer you leave the flower in the dye bath, the wetter it will get, increasing the chances of losing flower ridges and shape. Rinse if color is too dark.

Step 3:
Lay flower on paper towels to dry. Make sure you have several layers of towels (as the inked water will soak into them).

Scrapbook Tip of the Week #2

Paint is an easy and affordable way to change the look of metal pieces.

Various types of paint can be used... acrylic paint and spray paint work the best to change the look of metal accents. On bigger metal accents, sanding the metal helps the paint adhere to the slick surface.

To get a more aged or vintage look, sand the metal accents again once the paint had dried to give them a worn appearance.

Scrapbook Tip of the Week

Alcohol Inks and StazOn Inks are a great way to change your clear gems to the color you want!

To use Alcohol Inks:
Mix one drop of Alcohol Blending Solution and two drops of Alcohol Ink. Use a paint brush and apply to gem.

To use StazOn Inks:
Apply ink with a twin-tip applicator, Q-tip, or a small Pom Pom.
